Veritas Vincit Press Declares Damaged Chains

Set on India’s Malabar Coast and later in Los Angeles, Damaged Chains follows Sam, a Syrian Christian man, and Devi, a Dalit girl labeled “untouchable.” Childhood companions who turn out to be lovers as adults, their bond defies inflexible caste and non secular boundaries. Denied a church wedding ceremony, they marry in a civil ceremony and face ostracism and retribution as they attempt to construct a life collectively.
