NYC Token, describes itself as “the digital heartbeat of New York City” whereas Adams himself has known as it a token that was “built to fight the rapid spread of antisemitism and anti-Americanism across this country and now in New York City.”
At no level within the announcement video, nonetheless, does Adams clarify mechanistically how this token will obtain this.
The web site for the token claims it should “support awareness campaigns, educational programs, and community initiatives that work to eliminate antisemitism and promote understanding and respect.”
It continues, “Through partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions, we will help fund programs that educate about Jewish history, culture, and the importance of standing against hate in all its forms, fostering a city where everyone can thrive.”

This isn’t the primary crypto token that Adams has concerned himself with; earlier than launching NYC Token, he was a promoter of NYC Coin.
This coin, related to the now defunct CityCoins mission, promised to present a portion of its token sale proceeds again to New York Metropolis. The same token, MiamiCoin, was subsequently launched and was promoted by the town’s mayor Francis Suarez.
These tokens have been delisted from all exchanges as of 2023.
This isn’t the primary time that Adams has been accused of inappropriate or unlawful enterprise practices, as he was beforehand indicted for “bribery and campaign finance offenses.”
The Donald Trump administration dropped its case in opposition to Adams after the Division of Justice, beneath the route of Emil Bove, despatched a memorandum to the Southern District of New York that claimed the costs had “unduly restricted Mayor Adams’ ability to devote full attention and resources to the illegal immigration and violent crime.”
Adams has but to make a public assertion concerning the rug-pull of this NYC Token.
